Facebook’s most liked and commented on pages

According to an article posted to on Oct. 31 by Brian Ward, religion is finding a lot of love on Facebook. Three related Facebook pages – Jesus Daily, The Bible and Dios Es Bueno! – held down the top spots for Facebook fan interaction during the last week of October. Many of you will be happy to know that Jesus and God are, in fact, more popular than even Justin Bieber on Facebook. (Bieber was in fourth place.)

Remembrance Day online

If you’re looking for Internet Remembrance Day-related links in the lead up to the holiday on Friday, Nov. 11, your two best bets are the Royal Canadian Legion and Veterans Affairs Canada.

This week’s featured YouTube channels

Each week, I feature three YouTube channels that you may want to check out. With Remembrance Day right around the corner, here are few related YouTube channels. Statistics are current as of Nov. 1.

– Veterans Affairs Canada (English: 686 subscribers; French: 41 subscribers). These are Canada’s official YouTube channels honouring veterans. Here, you’ll find tributes, profiles of veterans and historical videos. (Most popular videos – English: Remembrance Day 2009 – 8,992 views; French: Le Jour du souvenir 2009 – 2,091 views).

United States Department of Veterans Affairs (720 subscribers): The U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs has a fairly active YouTube channel with a wide variety of content varying from official messages to various tributes, profiles and information. Despite the country’s military culture, I’m surprised that the official government department in charge of veterans has so few YouTube subscribers per capita when compared to Canada. (Most popular video: Veterans Day 2010 – 177,450 views.)

North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) (2,858 subscribers). NATO is a military alliance of which Canada is a member along with 27 other countries, including the U.S., U.K., Netherlands, Poland, France, Belgium, Norway and Spain. This very active channel includes nearly 700 videos. (Most popular video: NATO in Afghanistan – ISAF fighting insurgents in Kabul (1/2) – 68,833 views.)
