My blogging story

I started my first blog in December 2006 because of a 2007 New Year’s resolution. As a writer, editor, newspaper columnist and communicator, it seemed like a natural thing for me to do.

Shortly after my first blog began — Brian Cormier’s Blogtastic World, I started another blog focusing on low-carb eating — Lowcarbdude.com.

Brian Cormier’s Blogtastic World is a blog with a general focus on entertainment and humour. It’s just for fun, really. I posted my columns there and any videos or other things that I like. Between “Blogtastic World” and my low-carb blog, I’ve amassed nearly 4,000 posts. I’ve shown myself that I can make a commitment and maintain a regular blogging schedule. (Both blogs are currently inactive, but I still monitor them. Lowcarbdude.com may start up again in the near future.)

When I got interested in social media, I recognized the incredible power and synergy (although that word’s considered a cliche, it’s definitely an apt term here) for cross-promotion and increasing the value and reach of what I have to say.

The more I got involved in the area of social media, the more I enjoyed it. In March 2010, I began writing a weekly newspaper column on social media called “Social Media Matters”. As I learned more about professional blogging, I decided to focus my new blog on social media and communications. While this is a vast area, I’m passionate about it and am convinced that I can add value to what’s already being said out there. I’m not a techie, however… I’m a content guy.

I hope you enjoy my blogs. I look forward to connecting with you.
