I started my first blog in December 2006 because of a 2007 New Year’s resolution. As a writer, editor, newspaper columnist and communicator, it seemed like a natural thing for me to do.
Shortly after my first blog began — Brian Cormier’s Blogtastic World, I started another blog focusing on low-carb eating — Lowcarbdude.com.
Brian Cormier’s Blogtastic World is a blog with little focus. It’s just for fun, really. I post my columns there and any videos or other things that I like. Between “Blogtastic World” and my other low-carb blog, I’ve amassed more than 3,000 posts. I’ve shown myself that I can make a commitment and maintain a regular blogging schedule.
When I eventually got involved in social media, I recognized the incredible power and synergy (although that word’s considered a cliche, it’s definitely an apt term here) for cross-promotion and increasing the value and reach of what I have to say.
In 2009, I began an online course given by Yaro Starak and Gideon Shalwick. That got me onto WordPress. Slowly but surely, I read up on and watched videos on more serious blogging.
And the more I got involved in the area of social media, the more I enjoyed it. Early in 2010, I began writing a weekly newspaper column on social media called “Social Media Matters”. As I learned more about professional blogging, I decided to focus my new blog on social media and blogging. While this is a vast area, I’m passionate about it and am convinced that I can add value to what’s already being said out there. I’m not a techie, however… I’m a content guy. Sometimes, the techie stuff intimidates me, but I found an awesome premium WordPress theme (“Headway”) that’s made the whole experience of building a new blog a lot easier.
While I’ll maintain Brian Cormier’s Blogtastic World and Lowcarbdude.com for fun, my main focus will be on BrianCormier.com. I don’t know everything – but as I learn, I’ll pass that along to you. Let’s learn together!
Join my mailing list and keep in touch with me via my various social media networks to keep in touch! E-mail me, too. I’ll definitely get back to you!
