2015 edition of Crossroads 250 Relay event accepting registrations

The popular Crossroads 250 Relay held for the past three years has launched its 2015 registration for all those who wish to make a difference for Moncton’s Crossroads for Women and the renovations to their new shelter.

Now in its fourth year, the event will take place on Sunday, Sept. 13, at Place 1604 in Dieppe. Funds raised will go toward Crossroads’ New Shelter, New Start campaign. This year, the organizing committee hopes to raise $78,000. This event gathers runners and walkers of all ages and fitness levels.

Andrée Savoie, co-chair of the Crossroads 250 Relay, explains the community spirit which prevails throughout the day. “We see co-workers, family members and friends lace up their sneakers, move, laugh and unwind for a good cause. Year after year, we are amazed by the generosity and the enthusiasm of the community,” she says.

Crossroads 250 Relay includes three competition events: the Corporate Relay, the Engagement Relay and the Kids’ Run. “This year, we added the Engagement Relay which allows family members and friends to form a team and run or walk. Like the Corporate Relay, the teams must include five members to run a 10-kilometre route. We are bringing back the popular Kids’ Run for little ones aged between 0 and 12 years old,” says Joanne St-Pierre, the other co-chair of the Crossroads 250 Relay.

The organizing committee will hand out trophies as recognition awards for the fastest team, the team with the best spirit and the team who raises the most funds. Door prizes will also be drawn during the event.

Registration is online at www.crossroads250.com. All details concerning the event and online donations are also available on the website. Crossroads 250 Relay organizers invite those who would like to volunteer at the event to contact them, as well.

Crossroads 250 Relay wishes to thank its main partner, Manulife Financial, for their continued support of this event.

Crossroads 250 Relay was created in 2011 with the goal of raising $250,000 toward renovations for a new transition house for Crossroads for Women. The organizing committee hopes to reach the goal during this year’s event.

Crossroads for Women’s mission is to shelter women and their children living with family violence, ensure their physical safety and provide them with support that will help them break the cycle of violence.
